GRAZIA MAGAZINE’s Claudia Catalli interviewed Alessandra Mastronardi who plays Pier Angeli in Anton Corbijn’s movie LIFE
In her last movie Alessandra Mastronardi plays in a hot scene with the Twilight’s sex symbol. But she confesses to “Grazia” that she had only one thing in mind: “How my father will react to my first topless scene?
“Faster, bitte.” I plead the taxi driver with a mix between English and German, to bring me sooner to the coolest bar in Berlin, Soho House, for an exclusive party. I don’t want go there after the actor sex symbol Robert Pattinson has arrived. So I get out of the taxi, run, almost break a heel to avoid the crowded fan horde waiting for the stars of LIFE, the Anton Corbijn new movie about James Dean and his friendship with the photographer Dennis Stock. The first one is played by the talented Dane DeHaan, incredibly intense; the second one is played by the Twilight saga ex-vampire Robert Pattinson.
Just when they get out of the cars, they are flashed by every photographer. But the boys are not alone: tight embraced between them there is an actress we all know well. And a few days ago she was on the Berlinale’s red carpet, where the movie premiered, wearing an Elie Saab floral dress and a proud smile. We are talking about Alessandra Mastronardi who, after the experience with Woody Allen, is following the Hollywood career by playing now the 50’s diva Pier Angeli, who had a love affair with James Dean. In the movie we can see the two kiss each other, chatting for hours naked in bed, sharing the red carpet without stealing each other’s spotlight.
That’s happened to the young actors in Berlin as well, who -between jokes, smart lines and winks – have started the gossip. But DeHaan was with his wife Anna Wood, so on the web there are bets on a new love between Alessandra and Robert.
“Do not joke about that,” Alessandra belies, holding a ginger cocktail, “Robert is handsome and super likable, but he is not my type. I want you to remember that I’m engaged.” (To the Irish actor Liam McMahon). Alessandra sits with me on the couch.
Q: How is to parade on the red carpet with one of the most famous star in the world?
A: It’s crazy. I was nervous, now I’m feeling drunk; it was a day I cannot forget.
Q: Has Pattinson made a pass on you?
A: No, of course not. He is really good to put everyone at ease; with me on the set he was very kind. He doesn’t do the star-thing; everyone is equal for him, even me the last wheels on the Hollywood set. My best friend is crazy for him and I asked him to send her a video on WhatsApp.”
Q: And what did he do?
A: He did it. But then he said to me: “Please: Don’t let it go public for any reason in the world.”
Q: Is he paranoid?
A: No, he is only trapped in a media role which is too tight for his liking. We talked about it: that’s the side of his job he dislikes the most.
Q: Would you like a man like this?
A: Don’t hate me, but Rob doesn’t attract me physically. There isn’t a specific reason, I am an instinctive woman, I go with sensations, chemistry between a man and a woman is there or isn’t there, In this case isn’t there. He is really cool, but nothing clicked between us.
