Nel caso di The Rover (che esce il 15 agosto), significava andare in Australia e con temperature molto dure - che non gli dispiacevano affatto. "Se non fai qualcosa in cui interpreti qualcuno che è sudato e disgustoso tutto il tempo, allora sarebbe stato noioso", ci ha detto. "Ma quando riesci a sguazzarci dentro, è bello".

Successivamente, Maps To The Stars, che lo vede sedurre l'attrice Julianne Moore nella parte posteriore di una macchina, di cui si scopre non si sentiva del tutto a suo agio. "Penso sempre che le scene di sesso in un film siano la cosa più casuale da vedere", ha detto. "Due attore pretendono di dover fare sesso! Perchè? E' così stupido".

Robert Pattinson is back (about bloody time) and getting ready to bare his darker side in two new indie movies.

This month's post-apocalyptic drama The Rover sees the Twilight star play a slow-witted survivor opposite Guy Pearce, while David Cronenberg's Tinseltown satire Map To The Stars sees him as a Hollywood limo driver.

It's official: R-Patz has finally shed his tween image.

In the case of The Rover (out 15 August), it meant travelling to Australia and enduring searing temperatures -  not that it bothered him. "If you're doing something where you're not playing someone who's sweaty and disgusting all the time, then it would have been annoying", he told us. "But when you can wallow in it, it's nice".

Next up, Map To The Stars, which sees him seducing Julianne Moore's over-the-hill actress in the back of a car, something, it turns out, he didn't feel all that comfortable with. "I always find sex scenes the most random thing to see in a movie", he said. "Two actors pretending to have sex! Why? It's so stupid".

We're not complaining, R-Patz. Not even a little bit.
